Killing me Softly

I hate to use the word God in vain, but MY GOD these Triplets are killing me... I have changed the words to the song "Killing me Softly" or rather just added "with your love" to that line.  I sing it with a smile, but really I am just trying to find some peace in the craziness of getting through the day with three 13 month old babies.

Today was one of those days of "killing me softly."  Not only by my babies, but by husbands Dentist. Both Jordan and I had our teeth cleaned and  honestly when my turn was over, I thought his dentist was trying to kill me. And I told that to him when  I went out to the van  where he was waiting with the babies. Let's just say, I grabbed her hand more than one time.

Once Jordan had his turn, we were all hungry and we were way out in the suburbs. Alex asked where did we want to go for dinner.  I told him out. He  suggested going home as it would be too stressful,  but I assured him that if we went to a busy family place that already has a lot of commotion and one with lots of high chairs we could manage just fine.  I was not looking forward to going home and going through the whole process of feeding the babies and all the cleaning that came with it. I suggested Portillo's  a family  restaurant that I knew would be quick and easy. We had been there before in my nursing school days and I just remember thinking what a easy place for family's to go out and eat.

When I saw that the parking lot was full,  I asked Alex to run in just to make sure there would be room for us. Thankfully there was, as the  babies were having a meltdown. Once we got out of the van everyone settled nicely. While Alex and Jordan went and ordered the food, I started the hustling of getting my disposable placemats that stick to the table out, putting their bibs on and  cutting up the avocados and sweet potatoes that we picked up at the store on the way.  By the time our meal had ended we had a messy table and three green faces.

But not for long. When the elderly woman who was in charge of cleaning the tables and sweeping saw that we were nearly done, she began to clean and remove the items from the table and putting things away for me. She even cleaned the babies hands and face.  That was a surprise to both of us. When she came back with a wet cloth and grabbed Reagan's hands I just nodded my head to my husband. He knows how I hate when people touch the babies.  But this time,  I just let it go. She was too sweet of an lady for me to say anything. The babies however looked rather confused. They kept looking up at her to see who was grabbing them so matter of factly.  She was nice and Jordan thought so too. He asked if he could tip her for helping us so much.  I nodded my head on that one too.

So killing me softly is off to sleep.  I love my babies... but these are the days that I sing those words quite a bit. It will probably be one of the first songs they learn.

Neat, what happened to our seats? Waiting for Jordan.
